Sanremo is a coastal city in the northwest of Italy. Its green areas include the Ormond villa park with a Japanese garden, palm trees and olive groves. A bell tower with 12 bells towers over the 12th century San Siro Cathedral. Inside the church over the altar is a huge crucifix. The Sanremo Casino is an elegant Art Nouveau building with a theater. Nearby is the Russian Orthodox Church, crowned with five onion domes. The population of the city is 60,000 people.
