Sorrento is a coastal city located on the same-name peninsula in the southwest of Italy in the Gulf of Naples. The city was built on the cliffs, at the foot of which are the harbor. Sorrento is famous for its picturesque views of the Gulf of Naples and the many restaurants and cafes on Piazza Tasso. In the historic center of the city, which is a labyrinth of narrow streets, is the 14th century St. Francis Church. The population of the city is about 20,000 people.
