Nikopol is a city in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine, the administrative center of the Nikopol district. Located on the banks of the Kakhovsky reservoir of the Dnieper River, 99 km south-west of Dnipro. Large industrial center of Ukraine. In February 1648 Bohdan Khmelnitsky was elected hetman of Ukraine on the Nikitinsky Sich. The population of the city is 115,000 people.
