Omaha is the largest city in Nebraska, located on its eastern border, the district center of Douglas County. Located on the banks of the Missouri River, about 30 kilometers north of the mouth of the Platt River. The population living in the city reaches 440 000 people. The city with its suburbs is the 60th largest US agglomeration with a population of 830,000 people living in eight counties. The name of the city comes from the Indian tribe Omaha, which from the XVII century lived in the north-east of modern Nebraska. In 2008, Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine placed Omaha in third place on its list of the most attractive cities in the US.
