Ohrid - a city located on the eastern coast of Lake Ohrid in Macedonia. The city has a large number of picturesque houses and monuments, tourism is the main item of the city budget. Located east of Albania and south-west of Skopje.
The modern city of Ohrid is built on the site of the ancient colony of Lichnid, known since the 2nd — 3rd centuries BC. In 148 BC, the colony was captured by the Romans, who after the devastating earthquake in 518 almost completely rebuilt it, from the ancient Macedonian buildings only marble pillars are preserved. In 1225, Ivan Asen II incorporated the city into the new independent Bulgarian kingdom. In 1334 he was conquered by the Serbian king Stefan Dusan.
