Edinburgh - the capital of Scotland, located on the hills and occupying a relatively small area. It consists of a medieval Old Town and an elegant New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings. Edinburgh Castle towers above the city, where the royal jewels of Scotland and the Skoun Stone (the Stone of Fate), on which the rulers of the country were crowned, are kept. From the top of Mount Tron Arthur in Holyrood Park offers a magnificent view of the city. On Calton Hill several monuments and memorials were erected. The population of the city is 500,000 people.
