About Live Cam "Public television" in Kiev

The city once again flourished during Russia with the industrial revolution in the late 19th century. In 1917, after the Ukrainian National Republic proclaimed independence from the Russian Empire, Kiev became its capital. Since 1919, Kiev was an important center of the Armed Forces of Southern Russia and was under the control of the White Army. Since 1921, Kiev was the city of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, proclaimed by the Red Army, since 1934 Kiev was its capital. During the Second World War, the city again received significant damage, but quickly recovered in the postwar years, remaining the third largest city in the Soviet Union. After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the independence of Ukraine in 1991, Kiev remained the capital of Ukraine and experienced a steady migratory influx of ethnic Ukrainians from other regions of the country. During the transformation of the country into a market economy and electoral democracy, Kiev continued to be the largest and richest city in Ukraine. Industrial production, depending on the weapons of Kiev, fell after the Soviet collapse, adversely affected science and technology. But new sectors of the economy, such as services and finances, contributed to the growth of wages and investments in Kiev, as well as to the constant financing of housing and urban infrastructure development. Kiev turned into the most pro-Western region of Ukraine, where the participants who favor closer integration with the European Union dominated the elections.
