About webcam "Ant farm" in Odessa
The chernozems of Central Ukraine, among the most fertile soils in the world, occupy about two thirds of the country. These soils can be divided into three broad groups: the North belt of the so-called deep black soil with a thickness of about 5 feet (1.5 m) and rich in humus, on the South and East from the first area of the Prairie, or plain black, which are equally rich in humus, but only a thickness of about 3 feet (1 meter) and the southern belt, which is thinner and has less humus. Relocated at different elevations and along the Northern and Western perimeters of the deep chernozems are mixtures of gray forest soils and ashed black earth, which together occupy most of the rest of Ukraine. All these soils are very fertile when there is enough water. However, their intensive cultivation, especially on steep slopes, has led to widespread soil erosion and gulezian. The smallest proportion of the cover consists of chestnut soils of the southern and Eastern regions. They are becoming increasingly salinized to the South as they approach the Black sea. Ants are not uncommon here, but to observe their life in natural conditions is not always convenient. Ant farm is a great solution, as it is possible to study insects. This live stream from the webcam is online around the clock and can become a great helper.
