Webcam Aktau - Drama theatre
About webcam "Drama theatre" in the city Aktau
Aktau - city in Kazakhstan, located on the Eastern shore of the Caspian sea. Its current name means "white mountain" in Kazakh language, which may be due to its cliffs that overlook the Caspian sea. From 1964 to 1991 the city was known as Shevchenko. Its former name was given because of the period of exile of the poet of the same name in the area. It is located on the Mangyshlak Peninsula and is the capital of Mangystau region. Aktau is known for its unique system of targeted addresses. Almost all the streets within the city do not have names and addresses in Aktau consist typically of three numbers: district number, building number and apartment number. This is because Aktau was originally planned to make camp for the workers of the oil industry. The territory of what now is Aktau was once inhabited by ancient tribes of Scythians. Archaeological finds in the area include old settlements and utensils. In the present territory of Mangistau is the Northern silk road that led to the creation of several Sufi shrines in the vicinity of Aktau. However, before the Soviet times this area had very little population, and no city had any significance, almost certainly because of the lack of fresh water. You can see the Drama theatre via webcam.
