Tarvisio is a town and municipality in Italy, in the province of Udine, located in the North-Eastern part of the region of Friuli-Venezia-Giulia. Patrons of the village are considered to be Holy the Apostle Peter and the Apostle Paul. The commune covers an area 205,59 km2. It is located between the Carnic Alps in the North and the Julian Alps in the South, near the borders with Austria and Slovenia. The Tarvisio population according to 2011 is 4597 people; the population density is 22.36 persons/km2. Until 1918 the population of Tarvisio and the surrounding areas was predominantly German and slovenialainen. Today most of the population speaks Italian, but there are significant German minorities and clofenotane.
