A small open space next to Stockwell Underground Station containing a number of memorials and murals commemorating the lives of many of Lambeth's residents. Originally laid out in 1920, the site's centerpiece is a magnificent white stone memorial dedicated to those who gave their lives fighting during the First World War of 1914-18. It also contains a mural painted on the vent room and unveiled in 2001, commemorating famous war heroine and local resident Violetta Szabo, GC, as well as many other Stockwellers who died during World War II. The garden also houses the Bronze Woman statue, designed by Alex Barbat and inspired by Cécile Nóbrega's poem "The Bronze Woman". This is a tribute to all black Caribbean women presented on October 8, 2008.
