Webcams Saint George
St. George is a city in Bermuda, one of the first English settlements in the New World. The city and the surrounding fortifications of the XVII – XX centuries are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. St. George is the third English settlement in the New World after St. John’s (Newfoundland) and Jamestown (Virginia), but claims to be the oldest permanently populated English city of the New World. At first, Jamestown was a fort, not a city, but then it completely fell into decay and disappeared, and the constancy of the population of St. John’s in the early 17th century could not be established reliably. This allows some historians to consider St. George as the first English city in the New World.
