Catherine Church — the Orthodox Church in Ukrainian city of Chernihiv, an architectural monument of national importance. A striking example of Cossack Baroque of the Left Bank. Located in the historic centre of the city, on a high promontory separated by a ravine from the Shaft, Chernihiv dytynets, and is one of the architectural landmarks of Chernihiv. Modern address — Prospekt Mira, 6-a. Erected at the expense of the brothers Jacob and Seeds lizogubov, under the will of their father Yefim Lyzogub. The Church was built in memory of the heroism of their grandfather Yakov Lyzogub and the Cossacks of the Chernigov regiment, that they had shown in the storming of the Turkish fortress Azov in 1696
