Monterey is a hilly town on the central coast of California. One of the streets of the city, Cannery Row ("Cannery Row"), which used to be a factory for the production of canned sardines, became world famous thanks to the famous prose writer John Steinbeck. Today in the former fish shops there are popular gift shops, bars and seafood restaurants.
